1	Deaths in 2025	1,029,739	...so, we finally reached the slowest week ever in 12 years and get this on the top position? And in a week without major departures, to boot (although out of the Anglosphere, this here writer saw the death of his favorite author).

3	ChatGPT	935,750	Recently, an incident was revealed where one ChatGPT co-creator tried to quit Meta and return to OpenAI but got an offer for a higher position and did not leave.
4	Taylor Swift	875,756	"Baby just say yes!" On Tuesday, the biggest singer in the world right now and the NFL star she's been dating for two years announced their engagement with a joint post on Instagram. That post has since shot up to tenth in the list of most-liked Instagram posts (#11) and had more than a million reposts. Even #16, who declared that he "hates" her and that she is "no longer hot", congratulated the happy couple. On Friday, they made their first public appearance since the announcement, attending a college football match between the Cincinnati Bearcats, in which Kelce played for, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

6	KPop Demon Hunters	677,641	Records keep on piling for the animation following a girl group fighting the supernatural: it's Netflix's most watched original film ever, the platform's first box office #1 through a sing-along theatrical release, and the soundtrack is the first since Saturday Night Fever with three songs in the Hot 100 top 5, including chart-topper "Golden". Netflix is already in talks with Sony Pictures Animation to make a sequel.
7	Amanda Knox	630,330	The "twisted tale" documenting her wrongful murder conviction last decade has begun on Hulu, and she released a second memoir this year about her ordeal. She is also making her rounds on TV talk shows to talk about both.
8	War 2 (film)	612,969	Released theatrically on August 14, this Indian action thriller has yet to break-even with its budget. It's also the lowest-grossing entry in the YRF Spy Universe that began in 2012.
9	2025–26 UEFA Champions League	575,872	The league phase draw for the 34th season took place on August 26. 36 teams from 16 national associations were selected, with teams from England holding six spots. Competition will begin on September 16 and run through May 30.
10	Weapons (2025 film)	564,459	After the one weekend run of #6 in theaters, the top spot returned to the acclaimed horror movie about missing children and supernatural mind control, already worth more than $230 million. And showing how weak the overall box office is, second place was another thriller... from 50 years ago, a re-release of the iconic Jaws.
11	List of most-liked Instagram posts	549,431	The joint post by #4 and #5 announcing their engagement is, at the time of writing, No. 10 on the list.
12	Tommy Fleetwood	537,459	On August 24, this English Olympic silver-medalist golfer won the American Tour Championship, his first PGA Tour win.
13	Bruce Willis	519,576	ABC aired a Barbara Walters special, Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey, about the experience Emma Heming Willis is turning into a book regarding taking care of her famed actor husband once he was forced to retire diagnosed with aphasia that deteriorated into frontotemporal dementia. Emma revealed Bruce's worsening brain condition led her to make him live in a separate house with a full-time care team, where she and the rest of his family visits him daily.
14	Ed Gein	517,487	In the third season of Monster, set to air on Netflix in October, Charlie Hunnam will portray the "Mad Butcher", who was convicted of a couple of murders (and suspected of more), but was best-known to desecrate graves to collect body parts as souvenirs.
15	Superman (2025 film)	515,756	In the week Thunderbolts* got added to Disney+ and The Fantastic Four: First Steps passed $500 million, Marvel couldn't get in here while the Distinguished Competition is still present with the well-liked new interpretation of its flagship character that is both in theaters and video-on-demand. And go figure why in spite of continuing the DC Franchise under the same James Gunn, the newly started season 2 of Peacemaker was far from entering.
16	Donald Trump	513,680	He's appearing in public less and less, when he does there are large bruises on his hands and been confirmed as having chronic venous insufficiency. Add VP JD Vance saying he was ready to become president and a views spike to the article age and health concerns about Donald Trump, and it's clear what many readers are thinking. Meanwhile, his tariff policy suffered a setback as a federal court rules most of it are unlawful, and he canceled the United States Secret Service protection extended to former VP Kamala Harris.
17	The Summer I Turned Pretty (TV series)	502,542	This Amazon Prime series is entering its last month of weekly episodes ever. Although the book series on which it's based is geared toward young adult women, the millennials have taken a liking to the TV series, by having Belly-themed bachelorette parties (series star Lola Tung pictured as Belly), watch parties, and even family dinners in the show's style, all being shared on social media.
18	Arch Manning	463,946	In his full-time debut as starting quarterback for the top-ranked Texas Longhorns, this third-generation Manning family member struggled in their loss to defending national champions, Ohio State.
19	The Thursday Murder Club (film)	457,701	Netflix released this book adaptation with a respectable quartet of elderly leads in Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie directed by Chris Columbus (pictured and reuniting with Brosnan after directing one of his pre-007 works), where residents of a retirement village take upon themselves to solve a murder. A good reception and the existence of sequel novels makes clear the streaming service wants more!
20	Rio Ngumoha	452,524	This Liverpool midfielder made his first goal in his Premier League debut on August 25.
21	Alien: Earth	443,332	This FX (plus either Hulu or Disney+) show continues to remind us that greedy corporations can be as monstruous as the Xenomorph. And also that cliffhanger endings are more memorable with sudden appearances by famous rock songs.
22	Micah Parsons	422,389	This unhappy NFL defensive end, drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2021 draft, was traded to the Green Bay Packers, becoming the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history (at $188 million).
23	Lee Corso	406,973	After announcing his retirement from college football broadcasting in April, Coach Corso made his final appearance on College GameDay on August 30, correctly predicting Ohio State to beat Texas (and #18). His overall record stands at a compiled record of 287–144 (.666).
24	F1 (film)	379,669	This 2025 sports film which grossed $613 million was released on digital platforms on August 22. An addition to Apple TV+ is also imminent.
25	Clash in Paris	378,860	I want to move the town to the Clash City Rockers! Less than 300 views over new Mollywood release Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is WWE's first event in the French capital.
