The National Endowment for the Humanities has announced that the Hemingway Letters Project will receive an award of $282,520 plus $150,000 in federal matching funds to support ongoing work on The Letters of Ernest Hemingway, the comprehensive scholarly edition of the writer’s outgoing correspondence. This award is the seventh three-year Scholarly Editions and Translations Grant the Letters Project has received since 2005.

The Hemingway Society invites essays for a volume based on our most recent conference in San Sebastian and Bilbao, Spain.

The 2024 PEN/Hemingway Award winner is Javier Fuentes for Countries of Origin.

The Association for Documentary Editing's selection committee for the Lyman H. Butterfield Award has selected the Hemingway Letters Project as this year's award winner.  

Since 1985, the Association for Documentary Editing has presented the Butterfield Award annually to recognize recent contributions in the areas of documentary publication, teaching, and service. 

The committee's chair, Victoria Sciancelepore writes:  

Did you miss the fourth annual Hemingway Society's Holidays with Hemingway virtual party on Thursday, December 14 at 8 pm EST?  

It was a good time. We celebrated with music, a scavenger hunt, a holiday- or Hemingway-themed (or both) writing contest, and, of course, a signature cocktail.  Of course, we can't re-create the live sequences, but no need for complete FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).  You can watch the pre-recorded elements of the party. This year, Society members will elect two candidates to serve three-year terms.   

Voting will open on Wednesday, November 8th, and remain open until December 2 at 11:59 pm.
